Due to the most recent Chch Earthquake on February 22nd

Shirley Rugby hopes that all our Junior, Senior and Social members have come through this tragedy with minimal disruption to their lives, however we know that some of you will be struggling to cope with this tragedy and we offer our sincerest condolences to those who have lost friends or family.

Our clubrooms have come through well and although there is some damage to Burwood Park we have been very fortunate.

Metro have decided after meeting with club delegates and other interested parties that the season will begin for all grades on the 9th April.

4 clubs had issues with grounds and or players and there will be dispensations given for any club that cannot comply with the start date.

CCC will be releasing a grounds report on Monday with advice on which grounds would be available and a time line on remediating other grounds.

It was also decided that Juniors would begin on the 16th April with a revised format. Competition to start after the holidays, this would mean reduced 7’s & 10’s tournaments and only 1 grading game. Again this will be dependent on having sufficient grounds available.

If any of you need assistance please contact us as we may have Club Members able to help.

All the best

Board Shirley Rugby
