VIKINGS VOLUME - Issue No. 101 - 24 May 2010

Our U11 Team - 8/5/10
Club Day - This Saturday 29th May - (if Junior games are called off due to weather - then another day can be nominated - we will know more nearer to the weekend) - however the luncheon will be on regardless and of course Division 1 will be playing at 2.45pm - it would be good to see as many supporters as possible there)
Last Week Volume 100 - we had a competition to see who could guess when the first Volumes Viking Newsletter was published. Issue No. 1. (See end of this newsletter to view Issue No. 1)
The Winners of this competition are: Stu Proctor and Trudy Smallridge who were the closest guessers (and they were somewhat years away) - The answer being the first issue of Vikings Volume was dated Saturday 31 May 2003. Congratulations Stu and Trudy - I will deliver your prizes to you this week.
Issue No. 100 - unfortunately due to the Editor's error - only the first page of last week's newsletter was published. All the rest of the newsletter was somehow lost in ciber space - so this week I will re-do some of last weeks newsletter with our team of the Week being our U11 team. Not sure whether many of you noticed this or not (didn't get anyone advising me of it!!! - thats a bit of a worry!!)
Just another thing to note - especially for Juniors - we have had a call from a frustrated citiizen when playing rugby at Richmond Park. It appears some people are parking on the grass verges in Poulton Avenue. This apparently is not allowed and causes strife with the residents. Therefore if playing a game at Richmond Park please do not park on the grass. They are apparently going to have the traffic police check and there will be a fine of about $60 if you do. Thank you.

Jokers Wild
A teenage boy had just got his driver's license and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son: 'You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car.' The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer, and they agreed on it.
After about six weeks his father said, 'Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't gotten your hair cut.'
The boy said, 'You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair...and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair.'
To this his father replied, 'Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?'
