Newsletter
VIKINGS VOLUME - Issue No. 131 - 15/08/2011
This is the last newsletter for the 2011 season and on behalf of Shirley Rugby we would like to thank all those people (players/supporters/parents/coaches/managers/committee members/sponsors) - and all those that made this season a success. It has been a hard year in terms of players, grounds and results with the fallout from earthquakes but as Shirley is a strong club we feel we have come through this season in great form and as strong a club as there is in Canterbury. We have alot of people committed to Shirley Rugby and that is why we are such a great club. Enjoy the summer break....especially after such a wintery blast this week.....

Jokers Wild
The Beer Drinker....
A big lump of an American loudmouth, six foot two, and 250 lb, the Stetson hat, walked into a Pub in a small town called Bantry, in County Cork in the Republic of Ireland.
He calls out to the crowd of drinkers and says, "I have heard the drinking men of Bantry are the best drinkers in the whole world, and I have a thousand American Dollars here for any man who can drink five pints of Guinness's, one after the other in one minute flat, is there a man here can do that."
The drinkers all looked at one and other in amazement, then suddenly Seamus calls out from down the bar. "Bejazzes, oil be reckoning I'm joist the man to do tharrt for yar, but oi have to joist duck out for a couple of minutes foist, then oil be roit back."
So the American agrees, and in five minutes Seamus is back, and he lines up at the bar and says, "Roit, I'm ready now."
So they line up the five pints of Guinness's, and Seamus quaffs them down one after the other in 53 seconds.
The big Yank yells out, "My god man you the best goddamned bear drinker I've ever seen, in my whole life, and I'm happy to give you this thousand dollars, so now I can go back and tell this story to the folks in Flagstaff Arizona where I come!"
He carried on to ask, "By the way Seamus were did you go before you came back to drink the five pints Guinness's."
Seamus with a guilty look, sheepishly blurts out,
"Oi just nipped down to the otha pub to make sure oi could really do it!!
