Shirley Sports Club Report 2010
Once again the priorities of the Sports Club Board this year have been the monitoring of the Club’s finances and the reduction of debt.
The outstanding balances of the loans as at 31st October 2010 are as follows: Westpac loan: $15,034.54 and Christchurch City Council loan: $50,000.
Obtaining funding is becoming harder in the current environment and this year has been particularly difficult. Our thanks goes to Howard Morel for the time and energy he commits to this.
Once the Westpac loan is paid off next year we will be able to direct more funding into other areas e.g. the possibility of employing a manager for both the Sports Club and shareholder Clubs, to help with the administration and running of our organisations. We are also investigating some other initiatives to advance the clubs, which we will report on at a later date.
Maintenance is also an important issue that needs addressing. Normal wear and tear is showing especially in the changing sheds and on lounge area walls. We were very fortunate that the clubrooms only suffered minor damage as a result of the recent earthquake.
Thanks also to my fellow Board members: Peter Dow, John Grocott and Steve Barry from the Cricket Club and Stewart Mitchell and Steve Clarke from the Rugby Club and Shona Milne our Secretary.
