"Hoki Mai" Ngatai!


Shirley Rugby Club are thrilled to announce the appointment of Scotty Ngatai as the new RDO - Rugby Development Officer.Scotty is keen to use his teaching and sports skills to grow the club from juniors through to seniors.  He will be instrumental across coaching development, rugby participation, player development, talent identification, and to achieve the strategic goals of the club regarding increasing the number of coaches, players, volunteers, and supporters interested and involved in rugby!  We will see Scotty driving around in the cub ute from next week and look out for him on the sideline on Sat 1st July when we take on Brighton for the John Robbins Cup.  

At the same time the club would like to thank Graeme Moody, our current Director Of Rugby and Senior Coach for his contribution to Shirley Rugby over the last few years.  With a few more games to go, we will still be seeing Graeme in his role until the end of the season.

About Scotty Ngatai: He returns to the Shirley Rugby Club after 14 years abroad. Ngatai, an ex-PE teacher and coach at Shirley Boys High School (1998 - 2009), coached the Colts in 2008 & 2009 before departing for Egypt on an International teaching opportunity for both him and his wife Megs. 14 years, 3 countries ( Egypt, Sth Korea & Malaysia), 2 children (Grace 12, Jack 9) and a few kgs heavier Scotty returns to a RDO position at the club. His educational background will be utilised to get Primary school students in zone to join Shirley RC and then return (Hoki mai) to the club once they finish High school. Scotty will also be involved at SBHS in a youth mentoring position. Look out for him on the sidelines from Sat 1st July when we take on Brighton for the John Robbins Cup.
